Arkad INC was established in 2004 as a commercial, agricultural, and residential real estate company with large land holdings in Babylon, Baghdad, and Basrah provinces. As the post war instability discouraged real estate investors domestically, Arkad reinvented itself to cater to the dynamic business ventures in the region. Arkad invested heavily in three major sectors of the economy; Infrastructure, Transportation, and Urban Development. Arkad is licensed in Iraq and recently expanded its footprint to the United Arab Emirates, where it is also licensed. Arkad is a proud preferred vender for multiple international corporations.

Infrastructure

With a keen interest in rebuilding Iraq's crumbling post-war infrastructure as well as increasing employment of local talent, Arkad became one of the primary contractors in the Central Iraq region. Arkad was a major driver of innovative solutions created by Iraqis for Iraqis, some of our success stories include designing and managing a new sewage system, building commercial fish hatcheries, building business structures, conducting environmental and geological studies and completing major post-war renovations on government and commercial sites. Most notably, the company's true value was demonstrated in completing sustainable electric plans for each of these projects after identifying the problematic and often unreliable national electric grid.

Transportation

We realized early that a feasible transportation subsidy will be needed for any future expansion of the company once we reach regional customers and thus we assembled an entire team dedicated to importing, maintaining, servicing, and deploying an entire fleet of small vehicles and construction equipment. With a humble start of 16 vehicles imported from a US based company, Arkad was able to employ a dozen Iraqis who performed maintenance, operations, and became a leader in providing transportation solutions and customs clearance for other vendors throughout Iraq. Arkad employees and management team have over 14 years of experience shipping large containers from North America to Iraq through UAE, Jordan, and Kuwait then via sea freight to Basra and final destination in all 18 provinces of Iraq. We have used our contractual agreements with several international shipping companies to ship not only cars, but also large equipment, construction material, industrial size generators, tires, and many needed mechanical spare parts.

Urban Development

Decades of poor planning and lack of investment from the private sector has left most Iraqi cities with poor urban planning and unrealized potential. Arkad's engineers have efficiently proven their ability to foresee the needs of the customers they serve and provide strategic solutions that address the immediate needs as well as future needs of the customer. All our strategic projects undergo a strict environmental and geological survey to better understand our impact on the environment before proceeding to put together the blue prints. Oftentimes the company front the cost of the environmental research because of our core belief in saving the country from further deterioration that was caused by wars, greed, and unintended consequences of large developments. Most recently, we have won several major contracts supporting foreign companies and Iraqi government entities where we worked collaboratively to survey the location and make adjustments to decrease the impact of such large structures in rural areas.
